Establish A HOH Clinic - Hands on Health

Volunteers are continuing to establish new Hands On Health programmes around the world.

If you are interested in setting up a HOHA clinic read our recommended procedures and check the resources we have available to assist you.

How to set up a Hands On Health Clinic

Send for the Hands on Health Australia starter kit

Identify the need and establish a network of people and organizations.

Talk to the people who are in touch with the special needs of the community, especially people who are marginalised and vulnerable people.

Ask for ideas, people and services from those you meet, people are a wonderful resource for generating information and providing a basis on which to start.

Talk to people and representatives of organisations that have outreach support programmes that focus on the elderly, women, children, the poor, disabled persons, refugees and unemployed.

The above are only some of the examples of the many services you could contact. Each region is unique.

Form a small committee

Meet with colleagues who share a similar vision. Try to have a representative from the community on the committee. Try to keep the committee to a manageable size, ideally no more than six people. Members should fulfill particular roles, treasurer, secretary etc. Avoid repetition of the same task. From here the initial tasks can be delegated. You will need premises - approach churches, local service groups, council or people using places that have compatible services that may give you free space.

Keep minutes of meetings. Ask for advice regarding legal and accounting responsibilities from local professionals. Mention the charity, non-profit focus and your connection to Hands On Health Australia (HOHA) - show them the documentation received in the kit.

Action!

Plan a public meeting and invite all interested members of local churches, health professionals, and service agencies.
At this meeting outline the services intended to be offered.
List short and long term goals.
Arrange a future meeting.

Start

Start asap, the rest will follow, you will never have everything perfectly right.

There is never a better time to begin.
